The Election.
I have been following the campaignes since they started. At first I thought that maybe we could have a campaign based on the current issues, but lo and behold, Senator Kerry brought up his "war hero record".
Of course this all started back in September, when the DNC dug up President Bush's military service records, and proceeded to blast him for "Being AWOL,while in the National Guard" and that was a feeding frenzy for quite a while. While Bush did nothing to hide the fact that he was in the National Guard, he also did not make it the centerpiece of his campaign. He admitted that while he was with the Guard, he took time off to help his father be elected to the State government of Texas. There is nothing wrong with that. So he didn't go to 'Nam, at least he was in the military, and not a draft dodger like President Clinton. At least he allowed all military records to be opened to the public, as well as his and his wife's taxes.

Mr. Kerry, while claiming that he was a hero, now has some Vets claiming that his "medals" were the product of self aggrandizing glory, and that he never really earned those medals. I don't really know for sure, because I wasn't in 'Nam during his tour of duty, but I do have a question. If he is not ashamed of his war record, then why when he got home did he give aide and comfort to the enemy, by claiming that all the soldiers over there were monsters who fragged villages and innocent civilians? Why will he not allow ALL his war records to be open to public inspection? Why did he,upon returning to the States, become so actively involved with Jane Fonda? Why did he testify in front of a bogus Senate hearing to the atrocities that "all American Soldiers" did?

I'm sorry but I do not think that he is fit for command, and from his voting record in Senate I do not believe that he is actually going to be good for this country. He flip-flops more than my sandals do and that he will flow like the river, down the easiest path.

He has no plan that I can get in back of, including the no more taxes on the middle class, which is a bunch of nonsense. He has an awful record when it comes to taxes, and here again flip-flops when questioned about it.

He wants insurance for all Americans, well so do I being one, but guess what folks, when the time comes to pay for it, it's gonna come right out of our pocket.(Again!!)He wants to increase the coverage of Medicare, again that is a great idea, so do I! I'm closer than I care to admit to needing it and again Guess WHAT... I'm gonna have to pay for it, with a raise in taxes. The plans he puts forward are all great Ideas, with no touch in reality. You can not have all these nice things and not PAY FOR THEM,(unless his wife wants to chip in some of her Billions to help defray the costs!!!)

I hate to say it but I keep coming back to 9/11/01 and try to picture Kerry during this crisis. I can't because I do not believe that he would have been able to handle it better than the President did. He would have buckled to the U.N. and given Saddam more time to be active in destroying his own people and maybe many more. I agreed with the President in going into Afghanistan, and I agreed with him going into Iran. No matter how the media wants to spin it, it is better now than it has been for years for the Iran people. The battles now are growing pains of a new democratic nation. If you review your lessons in history, no nation ever gained freedom and democracy with out fighting for it, and Iran is the 21st century version of this. America had to shed blood to gain her freedom, France had to shed blood to have hers so did Germany, England, and most nations. It is not an easy road to follow, but it is one that is predicated on the fact that if you want to govern yourself, you must first change the view of the people, then change the view of the government.

I am afraid that voting for Kerry will be a big mistake, and that given his love of power and control and ability to deceive(ok, maybe that is a little harsh) or confuse people will be more cause for regret than allowing him to be president of the most powerful nation in the world.

I would like to remind everyone who reads this that history will repeat itself, if allowed. And not all Presidents have had a military background, and still managed to win a war.

End of Rant, you can now return to your normal Lives
LOL

Jumping in with both feet. ... or Starting out isn't as easy as I thought.
Mood:  happy
Well as the old saying goes, in for a penny in for a pound. This is an open page where I will be writing about anything and everything that attracts my attention. Please feel free to add your comments to mine and maybe we can get a discussion going and growing. I know that at some point I'm going to offend someone, some where, for the simple reason that I'm not a politically correct type of person. I have opinions and thoughts and that is just exactly what they are, Mine. I don't speak for anyone else but me, and if you disagree with some of my statements, feel free to respond. Just keep in mind that I will respond in kind, if you are thoughtful and not abusive, I will respond thoughtfully and not abusively. If you decide to be abusive I will, in most cases, not respond at all. ( Thank heaven for the delete button :))

Imagine my surprise when I finally came to the conclusion that I'm a recovering liberal. This shift in thought, happened over time and as I look back on it, it was inevitable. Like realizing when your a teenager, that the world doesn't revolve around you.. it's an ugly fact but true. I grew up in the late 60's when I believed all the old catch phrases that were in fashion; All you need is Love, Live and Let Live, If it feels good do it... and to go from If it feels good do it, to wait a minute, is this a good thing or bad thing, is scary. I've lost the desire to jump boldly where angels fear to tread. I guess that is part of growing up, which in my case took me a LOOOOOONG time to do.

I look at the "good old days" and wonder why I ever thought they were so good? Granted a lot of good things have happened, that I witnessed, but also a lot of bad. Some of the good things outweighs the bad but some of the bad seems to be worse than when I was a kid.

Race relations are changing, but so slowly that it seems, at times to have come to a complete stop. There is still hunger, death and disease rampant in the world, that I can never change but wish I had the power too. There is still double standards, although they are disappearing.

I still believe in the Bible and the Saving Grace of Jesus, and that in the end it will all work out. I believe that you can be what you want to be (even if it takes years to get there) and that at some point in our lives we have to take stock of what we have and what we have become, and are allowed to become. This is my stock room. Here I'll vent about politics and politicians, religion and war, and anything else that pops into my little pea brain. Come along for the ride,'cause I'll never know what I'm going to say until I say it...LOL

Thanks
Dana

Hi and Welcome,
Mood:  chatty
I am a real newbie at this so any comments would be appreicated.

This is going to be an ongoing open blog where I post my thoughts on life, liberty and the pursuit of the strange animal, happiness. There are things that might offend some, but please remember thise are just my thoughts and opinions. I do not speak for anyone but myself.

I find that I have a few things to say on a lot of different topics, and I have no problem with debate, if the debate sticks to the facts.

I have a number of different interests, the most important things are my religion, and family.

Thanks for visiting
